DARVVIN GROUP / TALENT ACQUISITION

Merchandising & Retail Performance Analyst

Porto, Portugal3–5 years of relevant experience

Scope: All Darvvin Group retail platforms, across physical stores and digital channels

About Darvvin Group

Darvvin Group operates across fashion retail, own-brand development and consulting. Through retail concepts including The Feeting Room and Labels of Tomorrow, we bring together independent and contemporary brands, combining a distinctive product curation with an innovative, performance-driven approach to retail.

The opportunity

We are looking for a Merchandising & Retail Performance Analyst with outstanding analytical skills, strategic thinking and commercial acumen. Your mission will be to turn sales, inventory and performance data into insights and recommendations that enable our Buying team to make better decisions on assortments, purchasing quantities, allocation, replenishment and product strategy.

The role spans all Group retail platforms and is focused on analysis, planning and strategic recommendations rather than logistics execution or customer service. The goal is to ensure the right products are available in the right quantities, channels and locations at the right time, maximising sales, margins and inventory productivity.

Key responsibilities

1. Retail performance analysis & commercial intelligence

  • Analyse performance by store, channel, brand, category, collection and SKU, identifying trends, opportunities and risks.
  • Monitor KPIs including sell-through, stock turnover and coverage, stockouts, gross margin, full-price sales and inventory productivity.
  • Deliver recurring analysis, dashboards and clear, actionable recommendations for the Buying and Management teams.

2. Strategic buying support & product planning

  • Inform buying decisions through historical performance, demand trends, brand results and sales forecasts.
  • Recommend improvements to assortment mix, buying depth, replenishment, stock transfers and markdown strategies.
  • Assess brand and supplier performance, anticipate deviations from targets and measure the impact of implemented decisions.

3. Omnichannel inventory optimisation

  • Evaluate inventory distribution across stores and channels and recommend allocations that improve availability and profitability.
  • Identify excess stock, slow movers and redistribution opportunities, balancing service levels with working capital efficiency.
  • Partner with Retail Operations to support implementation and measure the impact of recommendations.

4. Business intelligence & continuous improvement

  • Build reporting tools and ensure the reliability and consistency of sales and inventory data.
  • Collaborate with Technology teams on forecasting, automation and inventory optimisation initiatives.
  • Use critical thinking and scenario analysis to identify further opportunities for commercial improvement.

What we are looking for

  • Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Business Analytics or another relevant quantitative field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in business analysis, commercial planning, merchandising, inventory management or a comparable analytical position.
  • Exceptional analytical ability, structured problem-solving and strong strategic thinking.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and the ability to turn complex datasets into clear conclusions and practical recommendations.
  • Good understanding of commercial KPIs, profitability and trade-offs between sales, margins and inventory.
  • Autonomy, accuracy, initiative and the ability to communicate recommendations to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Fluent Portuguese and good command of English. Previous fashion-industry experience is not required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Primavera ERP, particularly in retail or inventory-related workflows.
  • Experience with Power BI, business intelligence or reporting platforms.
  • Exposure to demand forecasting, statistical analysis, stock allocation models or automation.

What we offer

  • A cross-business role spanning different retail concepts, brands and channels, with direct impact on commercial decisions.
  • Close collaboration with Buying, Operations, Technology and Management teams.
  • Involvement in digital transformation, business intelligence and inventory optimisation initiatives.
  • An entrepreneurial, collaborative environment with opportunities for professional growth.

We value people who challenge assumptions, uncover opportunities in data and turn rigorous analysis into better product decisions.
